We are happy to announce that we will be showing a new film about hospice care during the conference and you are all welcome to view it. The film is entitled The Nurse with the Purple Hair. It will be shown on March 31st at the Belfast Waterfront in Room 2A at 14:00. Entrance is free of charge. The filmmaker will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening.

The Nurse with the Purple Hair is a warm and inspiring documentary about end-of-life care directed by world-renowned filmmaker Sean Cunningham. The film honors hospice workers and the mind-body-spirit services they provide.

The Nurse with the Purple Hair can be a catalyst which starts a quiet revolution in hospice care through increased awareness and education.

Our message is simple: Be brave enough to have an end-of-life conversation that matters.

We’ve screened the film for focus groups from Vitas Healthcare and Kaiser Permanente. Here’s what early viewers have said:

“A catalyst to break through American culture’s denial of death.”
“A great tool to bring awareness to what hospice is really about.”
“Takes the mystery and fear out of hospice and dying.”
“I feel brave, inspired, and honored to start a conversation that matters.”
“A true look at a caring hospice nurse and the wonderful qualities of hospice care.”
