How do you cope with being told you’ve got a terminal illness?
The family of the magician Paul Daniels have revealed that he has terminal cancer. How do you cope with the news that you – or someone you’re close to – has got a terminal illness?
The President of the Association for Palliative Medicine, Professor Rob George, said it’s “crucial” not to become “preoccupied with the details of the illness rather than the details of the living.”
He said people with a terminal diagnosis can “almost feel more alive knowing that time is precious”.
“When the sun shines it really means something, when you see an old friend it really means something because you don’t know if that’s the last time you’ll see that person or be in that circumstance”.
