Anticipatory Prescribing in community end of life care: Friends House, London
FULLY BOOKED
Anticipatory Prescribing of “Just in Case” medication is widely endorsed as an important component of community end of life care, despite a limited evidence base. The Association for Palliative Medicine and the Cambridge Palliative and End of Life Care group are holding a day-conference in central London on Wednesday April 3rd, to which we would like to invite interested colleagues from a range of disciplines including Palliative Care, General Practice, Community Nursing, Pharmacy and others. Please forward this information to any colleagues you think might be interested to come, whether or not they are members of the APM.
The day will start with brief presentations setting out the background and current evidence-base, followed by workshops in which participants will discuss their safety concerns about AP and what they consider to be best practice. Prof Rob George will end the day with a keynote speech “After Gosport: where next for Palliative Care?”.
The day aims to contribute towards the development of national guidance for safe best practice in AP. With participants’ consent, the group discussions will be audio-recorded as part of a research study which we’ll send further information about before the day.
There is no charge: refreshments throughout the day and sandwich lunch are free. CPD approval from RCP has been applied for.
