The APM and PCC have been aware of the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19. The APM and PCC Organising Committee have maintained a position that they would follow government guidance and have been reluctant to contribute to any sense of panic within the UK and wider population.
The Government has announced that they are changing their response from “containment” to “delay”. Although they have not recommended banning large meetings other national bodies have, and steps should be taken to reduce spread of the virus. We therefore want to make sure that the clinical workforce is not disrupted at this difficult time, and we are also mindful that some of you will have been advised against travel.
With this in mind, the APM and PCC have decided to cancel Palliative Care Congress scheduled for 19-20 March 2020. As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult decision to take, but a necessary one to ensure the safety of patients and healthcare staff. We are exploring whether it might be possible to re-schedule this for later in the year, but this is not yet confirmed.
You will be contacted in due course about refund of your registration fee.
