At the APM, we believe the continued education and development of medical professionals is crucial to all aspects of End of Life and Palliative Care. Here, we’ve compiled some excellent education events that can benefit those working in this sector.
Palliative Care Congress
The APM hosts the annual Palliative Care Congress, which attracts over 500 international delegates from diverse multidisciplinary backgrounds. PCC has been running since 1996 and attracts individuals starting out in their palliative medicine career all the way through to Consultants and Medical Directors.
From 2024, PCC will alternate virtual and face-to-face congresses. In 2024, PCC was a virtual conference held on the 21st and 22nd of March and hosted by the ICC Belfast. As the conference was virtual, it had a global theme: what can we learn from palliative care specialists across the globe, and how can we collaborate? PCC 2025, will be hosted face-to-face in Belfast.
Aims.
Consideration
The PCC aims to consider the similarities and differences in palliative care service provision across the globe in order to facilitate collaboration and inform approaches that increase equity of access.
Appraisal
To appraise the most up-to-date evidence in palliative and supportive care through multidisciplinary learning in order to further advance research and improve clinical care.
Recognition
To recognise the importance of holistic assessment and consider how this can be provided in the context of increasing need and finite resources.

APM Study Days & Webinars.
The Education and Training Committee of the APM hosts events throughout the year, both virtually and in-person, to support the educational needs of APM members. The Committee hopes to grow the content on the site over time and ensure functionality is constantly updated. Our events calendar will be key when searching for educational activities and resources. It will house information on all APM events, as well as external events approved by the APM.
