GMC Assessment Development Pilot – paid opportunity
The GMC are recruiting palliative medicine doctors to help test exam content.
Date: Friday 6 December 2024
Time: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Location: London or Manchester
Remuneration: £175 plus standard class travel expenses (and an overnight stay if applicable)
This is a great opportunity to get exam practice and gain extracurricular experience for applications and appraisals. You’ll receive £175 for taking part, as well as your test scores and a certificate for your portfolio.
You’ll sit a two hour written exam then provide feedback on the assessment material. The assessments will later help us check whether a doctor is fit to practise, and your feedback helps us ensure the tests are reliable, set at the right level, and fair to the doctor.
To attend, doctors must be FY2 to Consultant level, and have worked in palliative medicine for four months or more during the past two years.

Application for APM Vice-President 2025-2027 Applications are invited from APM members for the post of APM Vice President to serve from March 2025 – March 2027 running through to President March 2027-March 2029. The Vice President of the APM supports the President and other Officers (Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and President Support) in ensuring that the activity of the Association works seamlessly, is in line with the Association’s strategic direction and meets the charity’s responsibilities as outlined in the APM Governing Document. The Vice President is an Officer of the Association and, as such, is a Trustee of the APM registered with the Charity Commission. The Vice President role is agreed by ballot of all voting APM members. Once elected the successful candidate will take up office at the APM Annual General Meeting (subject to member ratification) in March 2025 for a period of two years. They will subsequently take up the office of APM President when this becomes vacant at the AGM in 2027, subject to ratification at the AGM. The President also serves for a period of two years. A full description of the role of the APM President and Vice President are included with this e-mail. Please return the nomination paper with a personal statement from the nominee of no more than 200 words describing themselves and why they are standing for this position. This will be sent out with the ballot paper. The deadline for return of nominations to the APM at office@compleat-online.co.uk is 5pm on Monday 16th December 2024. Please note that you will need to obtain the signatures of one nominator and one seconder (both APM members with voting rights) to confirm your nomination.
