Good Death in Hospice – Call for Participants

We are seeking to conduct interviews with hospice workers who represent a range of positions and backgrounds. I am hopeful that you would be able to share the Call for Participants notice (attached here as a PDF) with any staff or volunteers in your organization who might be interested in taking part and sharing their experiences. I have also copied a short paragraph describing our study at the end of this message, which you are welcome to share.

Interviews will take place over Zoom, be conducted in English, and last for approximately 40 to 60 minutes. Interviews will be scheduled at a time that is convenient for participants. Participation is voluntary and there is no compensation. Participants will be notified that this research is completely confidential, and is being conducted independently of your organization.

If you have any questions regarding the ethical conduct of this study, you may contact the Protocol Officer for Ethics in Research, University of Ottawa at 1-613-562-5387 or ethics@uottawa.ca.

About this Study:

What does it mean to experience a good death? The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of experiences in hospice. Our research team seeks to explore the services provided by these institutions and how patients and families experience the dying process within these spaces. We are looking to speak with hospice staff and volunteers who fill a range of roles to better understand these themes. If you are interested in taking part in this study, which consists of a roughly 1-hour interview over Zoom, please contact cmiller5@uottawa.ca.
