Training courses: St Lukes Hospice in Sheffield is increasing their number of educational courses. Coming up this winter they are providing advanced communication courses and FASP courses which are aimed specifically at the palliative medicine trainee alongside other courses that will have a wider appeal. Medical update day: The team at the Royal Trinity Hospice, London, have developed a medical update day for hospice clinicians. The course is virtual on the 22nd of September and topics include substance misuse, heart failure and liver failure. Please see the website for details
Fellowship opportunity: for those with an interest in neuropalliative care, Bristol hospitals NHS trust is offering a fellowship to develop this sub specialty further to resident doctors ST5 and above. Please email Dr Richfield if interested to find out more: Edward.richfield@nbt.nhs.uk
Upcoming course: on Wednesday 4th November the APM is running a webinar aimed at new trainees ‘Palliative Medicine Starter Kit’ – A Guide to Palliative Medicine training for IMT3 Doctors and Junior Trainees’. This will cover several topics including how to prepare for training. Find out more here.
Research invitation: Dr Despoina-Elvira Karakitsiou is undertaking a research study on the influence of Hospice environments and their structure on palliative medicine trainees’ learning experience. She is asking for SpRs ST3-ST8 who have worked or currently working in Hospices as part of their training to Complete a short enrolment form and then take part in a 30-40-minute online interview at a time convenient for you.
