In the recent Marie Curie and James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) for palliative and end of life care research, two priorities in the top 24 focus on hospitals. They are:
- How can the quality of palliative and end of life care in hospital be improved? What helps or hinders improvement?
- How can discharge from hospital be improved for people with any serious life limiting illness?
Furthermore, recent research from the Nuffield Trust and Health Economics Unit, commissioned by Marie Curie, has found that 81% of public funds spent on health care for people in their last year of life was spent in hospital.
Marie Curie is inviting proposals from clinical researchers in hospitals and researchers linking with hospitals, to respond to these priorities through the scope of this call.
Applications open 3rd June and close 21st July.
